Do You Minister to Minors?

"It's easier to raise strong children than to fix broken adults." - Frederick Douglas

We often get asked if we can help young people. We love working with young people! But we also believe that the best thing you can do as a parent is to get ministry yourself. So we ask that you come and check us out first. It will help you on several different levels.

Why do we ask this of you?

  • We are all a mess to some degree and in need of God's transformation.
  • Our experience since 1997 has taught us since that this is the best approach for your child.
  • This will benefit you not just as a parent, but also as an individual.
  • We've learned that when one thing in the "family system" changes, it has a ripple effect on the whole system. We believe parents are to lead in these changes.
  • It will also give you credibility with your child. You then will not be asking them to do something you were unwilling to do.

None of this is a judgment on your parenting, it's a principle we live by ourselves. Our facilitators are constantly receiving ministry themselves. It keeps us all accountable and equipped to minister.

What do we ask of your child?

  • That he or she comes willing to cooperate. This is especially true for teenagers. God chooses not to violate our free will. We won't either, but we do understand that trust may need to be built in order for someone to more fully cooperate.

It may or may not be helpful to have you with them in the room. This often depends on his or her age. It also depends on how they might be feeling about you at the time. We want what is best for your entire family.

There are a few of us who really enjoy working with children and teenagers. Steve Freitag spent many years working with teens. Five of those years were spent as a Youth Pastor. He and his wife also have three children (two teens) of their own.

Please let us know if you have any questions about this. Thanks!

P.S. Attending of our free Orientation Classes (held 4-6 times a year) is an added bonus.
